Sudden nausea after hurting my finger…?
I was in my art studio today, carrying an Easel when part of it fell and held onto my finger.
It hurt like hell, and then right after it turned purple and stung.
And then I got a very intense wave of nausea and dizziness that lasted about five minutes. I really thought I was going to pass out.
My first reaction was that I broke it, but it’s fine now.
What happened?
pain reactors can trigger a rush of prostaglandin, a hormone that gets released whenever your spinal nerves feel pain. The same chemical, incidentally, also causes smooth muscle contractions. This includes the muscles in your stomach and gut, causing you to feel nausea.
This is why any sudden sharp pain — such as a swift hit in the groin for men — is very likely to result in vomiting. Prostaglandin also makes the uterus contract during labour, which is why many women throw up.
